February 2011

Another new month... time sure does fly by. As my due date has come (and gone) my emotions are flying. First a little update on last months goals:

1) GET HEALTHY- definitely feeling much much better. still coughing a lot but i think that's a given until this little child is born. i feel more confident going into delivery than i would have 3 weeks ago, that's for sure. i am definitely glad i took the last few weeks off to take care of myself even though it was a tough decision for me.

2) STAY EXCITED ABOUT BABY COMING SOON- excited but definitely nervous at the same time. what's delivery going to be like? is the baby going to be ok? is it a boy or girl? will i know how to take care of him/her? what about my independence being gone? or what about the times when it was just husband and me? ok... you get it but i guess this is normal.

3) GO SEE A MOVIE OR RENT SOME MOVIES- well considering I have been home for 3 weeks this was pretty easy! we don't rent many movies but I did purchase Toy Story 3, Monsters Inc., and Ratatouille. Thanks to a wonderful Christmas gift from the parents of a new TV, I have found a new love for the PIXAR Disney films. They look great on those new flat screens and are happy movies to keep your spirits up. We now have Cars, The Incredibles, Toy Story 3, Ratatouille (my all time favorite) and Monsters Inc. I would love to add the other 2 Toy Story's and Finding Nemo to our PIXAR collection. We even went to see a move last night. Figured we better take advantage of a couple more nights out.

4) KEEP WORKING ON BABY BLANKET- little by little i'm making progress... won't be done in time for baby's arrival BUT still looking good. I am finishing a very cute baby hat this morning though. That will be done in time for pictures of our new little one!

Well... this is it. My last post before I'm a mom (weird). Thought I better update one more time before the big day. My goals for this month are easy...
1) relax
2) keep an open mind
3) have fun

January 2011

Quite a bit has happened and changed since my last blog entry. First to update on the success of my december list:

1) Finish 2 independent masters classes done and done woohoo :)
2) Knit at least half the baby blanket not quite half but i did work on it and have more done
3) Finish decorating baby's nursery it's officially ready :)
4) Continue to workout at least 4 days a week, even if it's going for a walk not so much, been knocked down hard sick and rest is more important these days
5) Go see a movie with my husband hasn't happened yet, I am hoping one of these last few weekends before baby arrives
6) Rest a lot and not feel guilt about laying down I have been very successful at this but not by choice. rested so much I don't know what to do anymore.

ok... so all in all, the list was successful and now it's focusing on getting healthy and mentally prepared for baby to arrive. I have spent many days off work and in that time I would say while resting I have still been quite productive. Paying bills, working on maternity paperwork, finishing masters classes, etc. I am not a good rester but I've definitely improved.

Goals for the next few weeks:
1) GET HEALTHY!
2) Stay excited about baby coming soon
3) Go see a movie or rent some movies with my husband
4) Keep working on baby blanket

I think that's good for now. Don't want to overwhelm myself and leave lots of time to sleep and rest.

Determined to get back into blogging....

Ok... so I know I haven't posted anything in 6 months but now I'm on a mission to improve. A lot has happened since then. Sticking with the theme of my page.... I successfully completed 1 triathlon this past summer, took a 6 week long knitting class, and as for the notes I have definitely put a lot of time into both singing and playing the piano at church. J and I are also expecting our first baby in just 2 short months. Yikes!! Seeing as it's almost december and time is clicking away I have a lot on my to do list. I thought I would try making a december checklist and see how well I do. So here goes...

1) Finish 2 independent masters classes
2) Knit at least half of the baby blanket
3) Finish decorating baby's nursery
4) Continue to workout at least 4 days a week, even if it's going for a walk.
5) Go see a movie with my husband
6) Rest a lot and not feel guilty about needing to lay down

There it goes... I'll keep you posted on the list as things are completed.

Another Successful Race

Exercise has always been an important aspect of my life. I always exercised for general fitness and well being until the last couple of years. After two knee surgeries, I truly found the appreciation for my legs and ability to exert my body physically. This past sunday, I completed my second half marathon, Great Western 2010. It was overall a successful race. I finished in 2:01:01, running at a 9:16 pace, and 19th out of 47 in my age group. I was blessed to have many friends running with me making it both a social and competitive event. While the completion of a race brings feelings of emptiness after 12 weeks of training, it also provides an opportunity to find new events to train for. Throughout the summer I plan to complete multiple sprint triathlons and longer distance running races.

My First Post

Over the past few months I have been inspired to start a blog. So... no better place than to travel to Iowa City on a beautiful April weekend to visit my brother and sister-in-law who are the blog experts in my life. After a few beers and conversations, the unique blog has been created. The name originated from three of my favorite hobbies... triathlons (and exercise in general), knitting, and music (piano, singing, listening, etc.). This will be the perfect opportunity for me to log my adventures in life. A big thank you to Robin (http://brownwingstudio.com) for this unique design and taking the time to help me start my very first blog.
